Routine care takes that off your plate — we come to your pet’s own home and handle the upkeep, so your time together is play and cuddles, not chores. And because exotics hide illness until it’s serious, every visit doubles as prevention: consistent expert eyes catching small things before they become big ones.
What a Routine Visit Includes
- Preventative care with enclosure maintenance — full cage cleaning and deep-clean, fresh litter and bedding, liners swapped.
- Meals & enrichment — hay restocked, chop prepped, fresh water, plus handling and play.
- A gentle wellness check — gram-scale weigh-ins, habitat temps and UVB, a trained eye for early signs of trouble — with a photo update every visit.

Routine Care Plans
Standing visits on a schedule you choose — every other week or weekly, one or two hours per visit.
Every Other Week
- 1 hour: $105/visit (~$225/month)
- 2 hours: $175/visit (~$375/month)
Weekly
- 1 hour: $95/visit (~$410/month)
- 2 hours: $165/visit (~$710/month)
Monthly estimates assume an average month (~4.3 weeks). No travel charge within ~3 miles of Inner Sunset; from $15–$25/visit farther out and across the Peninsula (see service areas). In Marin, travel is measured from our caretaker’s Central Marin base — so most of Central and Southern Marin has little to no travel charge.

How is routine care different from in-home travel care?
Both happen in your pet's own home — we always come to you, no drop-off, no kennels. In-home travel care covers your pet for a defined trip and ends when you return. Routine care is an ongoing, standing arrangement — the same caretaker visiting weekly or every other week to handle upkeep, weigh-ins, and health checks. It's for pet parents who are home but busy, not just those who are away. (Prefer your pet stay overnight somewhere while you travel? That's our separate boarding service.)
Can I get the same caretaker every visit?
We do our best to make sure your pet has the same caretaker every visit — that familiarity is what makes routine care special. If their caretaker is ever out with an unforeseen illness, that's where our awesome on-call PRN specialists come in, stepping in until their caretaker can return. Nothing needs to be reiterated — everything is communicated across our team, so transitions are seamless and someone who knows your pet's routine is always there for them.
How often can you come for routine visits?
Routine plans run weekly or every other week, with one- or two-hour visits. Weekly is the sweet spot for keeping most exotic pets' upkeep, feeding, and health monitoring on track — small mammals and birds especially benefit from that rhythm — but we'll recommend the right cadence for your pet at your meet-and-greet.
Is this a cage cleaning service for guinea pigs and rabbits?
Yes — and a little more. Every routine visit includes the full cage cleaning: liners swapped, litter boxes refreshed, hay restocked, fresh water, enclosure wiped down. What makes it special is who's doing it — a caretaker from our veterinary-informed team who weighs your pet on a gram scale and looks them over while they work, so small changes get noticed early. Guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, birds, and reptiles are all welcome.
